Pomegranates - Made to Order

from $380.00

Customize the Pomegranates challah board exactly as you like!

Every color on this board comes from the wood itself. There are no dyes, stains, or epoxy. The Hebrew lettering is cut from maple, the pomegranates are cut from redheart and padouk, the leaves are cut from cherry, and the branches from sapele. Each piece is inlaid by hand into a solid walnut board, so the design sits flush with the surface, and the grain runs through every letter and leaf.

The board is 12" × 16", sized to hold two medium loaves side by side for hamotzi.

Pick whichever Hebrew phrase excites you most, or request custom text when checking out.

All challah boards are made in my Boston workshop, and it’s meant to become part of your Shabbat and holiday table for years to come. It’s also a meaningful gift for a wedding, a housewarming, or a new home.

Details

  • Solid walnut with cherry, maple, redheart, padauk, and sapele

  • 100% natural wood color, with no dyes or stains

  • 12" × 16"; fits two medium challahs

  • Finished with food-safe Odie’s Oil

  • Made-to-Order

Options

  • Add recessed handles: grips carved into the underside make the board easy to lift and carry, with no change to the top.

  • Add non-slip rubber feet: keeps the board steady, protects your table, and helps it dry evenly.

Care
The inlaid side is meant for serving and display. If you’d like to slice your challah, flip the board over and use the underside as your cutting surface, or follow the tradition of tearing the bread by hand. Knife marks on the inlay side will scratch the finish and can wear down the inlay over time.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry right away. Don’t soak it or put it in the dishwasher. Re-oil occasionally with Odie’s Oil or a food-safe board oil to keep it looking rich.

Shipping

The price includes shipping. Products are shipped from Boston, MA within 2 weeks days of order and take 5-7 business days for delivery. Rush options are available for an additional fee, just contact us here.

Each challah board is handmade from natural wood, so grain and color will vary slightly from the photos.

All of the color on this board comes from natural wood, so it will gradually deepen and mellow with time and light, especially the redheart and padauk, which shift from bright red toward a warmer red-brown. Keep it out of direct sun to help the colors stay vivid.
