Shabbat Kodesh Flowers and Moon Challah Board - Ready to Ship
Every color on this board comes from the wood itself. The design uses maple, cherry and padauk. Each piece is inlaid by hand into a solid walnut board, so the design sits flush with the surface, and the grain runs through every letter and leaf.
The board is 12" × 16", sized to hold two medium loaves side by side for hamotzi. Recessed handles routed into the underside make it easy to lift and carry to the table, and they keep the top clean and uninterrupted. The board is finished with Rubio Monocoat, a plant-based, zero-VOC hardwax oil that bonds with the wood fibers. It keeps the natural matte look and feel of the wood, resists water and stains, and is food-safe once cured.
The Hebrew reads Shabbat Kodesh, “Holy Shabbat,” a reminder that this day is set apart from the rest of the week.
It’s made in my Boston workshop, and it’s meant to become part of your Shabbat and holiday table for years to come. It’s also a meaningful gift for a wedding, a housewarming, or a new home.

Care
This board is made for serving and display, not cutting. We recommend following the tradition of tearing your challah by hand. Knives will cut through the finish and damage the inlay.
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry right away. Don’t soak it or put it in the dishwasher. You don’t need to oil it regularly. If the surface ever starts to look dry or dull after years of use, it can be refreshed with a Rubio Monocoat maintenance product. Avoid other oils or conditioners, which can leave the surface sticky over this finish.
Shipping
The price includes shipping. Products are shipped from Boston, MA within 1–2 business days of orders and take 5–7 business days for delivery. Rush options are available for an additional fee, just contact us here.
Padauk starts bright orange-red and slowly darkens to a deeper reddish-brown over time.
