Motzi Wheat Fields Inlay Challah Board - Ready to Ship
Every color on this board comes from the wood itself. The design uses maple, cherry and padauk. Each piece is inlaid by hand into a solid walnut board, so the design sits flush with the surface, and the grain runs through every letter and leaf.
The board is 12" × 16", sized to hold two medium loaves side by side for hamotzi. Recessed handles routed into the underside make it easy to lift and carry to the table, and they keep the top clean and uninterrupted. The board is finished with Odie’s Oil, a food-safe natural finish that brings out the depth of the walnut and the contrast in the inlay.
The Hebrew reads hamotzi lechem min ha’aretz, “who brings forth bread from the earth,” the words of the blessing said over challah.
It’s made in my Boston workshop, and it’s meant to become part of your Shabbat and holiday table for years to come. It’s also a meaningful gift for a wedding, a housewarming, or a new home.
Details

Care
The inlaid side is meant for serving and display. If you’d like to slice your challah, flip the board over and use the underside as your cutting surface, or follow the tradition of tearing the bread by hand. Knife marks on the inlay side will scratch the finish and can wear down the inlay over time.
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry right away. Don’t soak it or put it in the dishwasher. Re-oil occasionally with Odie’s Oil or a food-safe board oil to keep it looking rich.
Shipping
The price includes shipping. Products are shipped from Boston, MA within 1-2 business days of orders and take 5-7 business days for delivery. Rush options are available for an additional fee, just contact us here.
Because each board is made from natural wood, grain and color will vary. The redheart will gradually mellow to a deeper red-brown over time, especially with sun exposure. Keeping the board out of direct sunlight will help it hold its color
